About Occupational First Aid (OFA) Refresher Course

Occupational First Aid (OFA) Refresher Course aims to refresh your knowledge and skills to apply First Aid (FA) to Adult casualty and to use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safety and effectively in your workplace, in accordance to guidelines and methodology stipulated by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC).

The course is a requirement for all Appointed First Aiders to fulfil the Workplace Safety and Health (First Aid) Regulation in their workplace.

Provider certificates are eligible for renewal/refresher course, 3 months before or 3 months after the stated expiry date.

Overview

1) Appointed First Aiders whose certificates are expiring 

Where more than 25 persons are employed in a workplace, there shall be appointed in the workplace as first-aiders who shall be readily available during working hours such number of persons as complies with the ratio of one first-aider for every 100 persons employed in the workplace or part thereof (Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations).

2) Safety officers whose certificates are expiring 

3) Laboratory technicians whose certificates are expiring 

4) Workers who operates with heavy machinery whose certificates are expiring  etc 

16 hours (2 days from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm for each day), 16 hours (4 days from 7:00pm to 11:00pm)

Course Assessment

Theory Assessment: 80% score requirement (Multiple Choice Questions, 2 attempts allowed)
Practical Assessment: 100% score requirement (3 attempts allowed)

  • The re-assessment fee of $40 applies for trainees who fail their 2nd attempt of the theory assessment
  • Individuals who fail in any practical assessment will have to retake theory and practical assessments
  • Participants who fail on the 3rd attempt of the practical assessment will retake the entire course

Certificate

A certificate will be given at the end of the training once the trainees pass the skills set and assessments. The certificate is valid for 2 years.

Course Requirements

  • Able to speak, read and understand English effectively
  • No medical heart and lung conditions or any physical disabilities and injuries that will prevent the participant from performing CPR
  • Participants will need to submit a digital copy of their passport photo (.jpg or .png) to courses@sera.sg upon registration.

We offer a variety of payment methods for participants to opt for. In the event you wish to opt for a payment method other than PayPal, please do the following:

Paypal
When you register for the course online, you will be automatically redirected to Paypal to make the payment online. This is highly recommended as it fuss-free and convenient for you to do so!

PayNow
We also accept payment via PayNow to our UEN number 53206875X.

Bank Transfer
In the event you are unable to make payment via Paypal, you can also opt to do an online bank transfer of the payment amount directly to us. Do email us at courses@sera.sg for our bank details to facilitate the transfer.

Cheque

About Funding and Grants

Applying for SSG Funding

We are pleased to share that Singaporeans and Permanent Residents who are above the age of 21 can qualify for Self-Sponsored SSG Funding for Individuals. 

Please see below for the steps to apply for this funding:

  1. Register the courses with us
  2. Please fill in the form here as all information is mandatory for us to submit the claim for you: sera.sg/ssgfunding
  3. You will require a password to fill in the form. The password is 2019SERA
  4. Based on the information that you have submitted, we will apply for SSG funding for you
  5. We will inform you of the outcome and the balance due payable by you
  6. For the balance due payable by you, you can make payment via Skillsfuture Credits, NETS, bank transfer or PayNow. Do advise which method you’d prefer.

Kindly note that the certificate for the course will be issued to you only upon successful completion of the course and receipt of the balance due payable by you.

About WTS Fundings

WTS stands for Workfare Training Support Scheme. WTS encourages individuals to attend training to upgrade their work skills and improve their employability.

Eligible individuals may receive:

  • Course fee subsidy to lower training costs
  • Training allowance when training is relevant to their job and individuals had paid for their own training
  • A cash reward for completing training

To qualify, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen; and
  • Aged 35 years and above (13 years and above for Persons With Disabilities); and
  • Earn an average gross monthly income of not more than $2,000 for the months worked.

For companies, you will need to create your company profile on https://skillsconnect.gov.sg and they will inform you about the type of profile that you have.

For your reference, an SME is one where:

SSG has updated the definition of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to align with that of SPRING Singapore. SMEs are now defined as companies with:
(i)      at least 30% local shareholding; AN
(ii)    Group annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million OR Group employment size of not more than 200 employees.

SERA’s OFA has been approved under the Continuing Professional Development Programme, where Workplace Safety and Health Officers will be awarded 17 Safety Development Unit (SDU) points.
