Child First Aid Full Course

Child First Aid Full Course is classroom-based, instructor-led program with lectures and skills, hands-on training and demonstrations conducted all-throughout. Participants will learn advanced child and infant first aid management and perform CPR on child and infant. The students will also learn the critical skills in responding to different emergencies in different situations in the first few minutes before an emergency medical team arrives.

Do note that as per the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF)‘s Guidelines for Student Care Centres (SCCs), it is mandatory that at least 1 programme staff with a valid first aid certificate has to be present at the centre at all times for Student Care Fee Assistance (SCFA) administrators. SCCs are encouraged to send all staff (including non-programme staff such as the cook/relief cook/cleaner) for first aid training.

Child First Aid Learning Objectives

At the end of the course the trainees will be able to:

  • Recognize a medical emergencies situation involving child and infant
  • Activate the appropriate emergency response system and follow the Emergency Action Principles
  • Perform CPR on child and infant during an Emergency
  • Perform the appropriate first aid treatment for Foreign Body Airway Obstruction on Child and Infant
  • Identify the common medical illness of child and infant

Course Requirements

  • Able to speak, read and understand English effectively
  • No medical heart and lung conditions or any physical disabilities and injuries that will prevent the participant from performing CPR

Course Assessment

Theory Assessment: 80% score requirement (Multiple Choice Questions, 2 attempts allowed)
Practical Assessment: 100% score requirement (3 attempts allowed)

  • The re-assessment fee of $40 applies for trainees who fail their 2nd attempt of the theory assessment
  • Trainees who fail in any practical assessment will have to retake theory and practical assessments
  • Trainees who fail on the 3rd attempt of the practical assessment will retake the entire course

  • Course is developed and conducted in accordance with the guidelines set by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC)

    • Realistic experience that provides for the best “real life CPR outcomes”
    • Allows students to observe a true chest rise.
    • Head tilt-chin lift feature enhances the learning experience and teaches students how to open the airway during CPR
    • Clicker mechanism and rate monitor increases student’s confidence in administering adequate compressions

Accreditation: Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC)

Duration: 20 hours (2.5 days from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm for 2 days and 9.30 am to 1.30 pm on the last day)

Upon Completion: Child First Aid Certification by SRFAC, approved by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).
