About the CERT First Aid Course (with CPR+AED)

In this 1 day CERT First Aid Course, you will learn how to administer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation on a collapsed casualty and use AED safety. During the course, you will also learn to provide First Aid during an emergency and perform improvised carry as well.

CERT First Aid Course is designed for Company Emergency Responder Team (CERT) First Aiders.

Course Objectives

At the end of CERT First Aid Course you will be able to:

  • Perform Adult Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safety and effectively
  • Relief of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction on an Adult Casualty
  • Provide first aid for sprains, dislocation, cuts, fractures and burns
  • Perform improvised carrying techniques as well

Course Requirements

  • Participants must be able to speak, read and understand Basic English
  • Participants should have no pre-existing medical conditions or any physical disabilities and injuries that will prevent the participant from performing CPR

Course Content

CERT First Aid Course is structured as follow:

  • CPR+AED
  • Introduction to First Aid
    – First aid equipment and supplies
    – Primary survey (DRSABC)
    – Recovery position
  • Breathing Difficulties
    – Relief of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction – Care for Choking
  • Circulatory system and wound management
    – Heart Attack Vs Cardiac Arrest
    – Bandaging techniques for wounds
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
    – Bandaging techniques for fractures
    – Management of soft tissue injuries, sprain and strains
  • Other First Aid Injuries 
    – Management of Burns

Course Assessment

Theory Assessment: 80% score requirement (Multiple Choice Questions, 2 attempts allowed) for the CPR+AED module
Practical Assessment: 100% score requirement (3 attempts allowed) for the CPR+AED module

  • Trainees who fail in any practical assessment will have to retake theory and practical assessments
  • Trainees who fail on the 3rd attempt of the practical assessment will retake the entire course

Certificate

Upon successful completion of CERT First Aid Course, participants will receive a certificate in CPR+AED that is accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and is valid for 2 years and a certificate in Basic First Aid + AED accreditated by Singapore Emergency Responder Academy (SERA)

  • CERT First Aid Course is conducted through interactive lectures and real-life stimulations during the practical sessions.
  • Upon successful completion of the CERT First Aid Training, you will receive a certificate in CPR+AED and CERT First Aid.
  • The CPR+AED Certificate is accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) with 2 years validity

Payment Methods

Participants can opt for a variety of payment methods. In the event you wish to opt for a payment method other than PayPal, please do the following:

  1. Register for the course that you are applying for on our website.
  2. Click “Register and Pay Online” and we will receive the registration information in our system.
  3. You will be directed to the PayPal page. Close the window.
  4. Email us at courses@sera.sg with your registration information and preferred mode of payment.

Paypal
When you register for the course online, you will be automatically redirected to Paypal to make the payment online. This is highly recommended as it fuss-free and convenient for you to do so!

PayNow
PayNow to our UEN number 53206875X.

Bank Transfer
In the event you are unable to make payment via Paypal, you can also opt to do an online bank transfer of the payment amount directly to us. Do email us at courses@sera.sg for our bank details to facilitate the transfer.

Cheque
For Payment via cheque. Please cross the cheque to Singapore Emergency Responder Academy.

e-Invoicing

We are able to submit e-Invoices to your organisation or school via Vendors@Gov. To do so:

  1. Register for the course that you are applying for on our website.
  2. Click “Register and Pay Online” and we will receive the registration information in our system.

3. Frequently Asked Questions about Funding and Grants

Applying for SSG Funding

We are pleased to share that Singaporeans and Permanent Residents who are above the age of 21 can qualify for Self-Sponsored SSG Funding for Individuals. 

Please see below for the steps to apply for this funding:

  1. Register the courses with us
  2. Please fill in the form here as all information is mandatory for us to submit the claim for you: sera.sg/ssgfunding
  3. You will require a password to fill in the form. The password is 2019SERA
  4. Based on the information that you have submitted, we will apply for SSG funding for you
  5. We will inform you of the outcome and the balance due payable by you
  6. For the balance due payable by you, you can make payment via Skillsfuture Credits, NETS, bank transfer or PayNow. Do advise which method you’d prefer.

Kindly note that the certificate for the course will be issued to you only upon successful completion of the course and receipt of the balance due payable by you.

About WTS Fundings

WTS stands for Workfare Training Support Scheme. WTS encourages individuals to attend training to upgrade their work skills and improve their employability.

Eligible individuals may receive:

  • Course fee subsidy to lower training costs
  • Training allowance when training is relevant to their job and individuals had paid for their own training
  • A cash reward for completing training

To qualify, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen; and
  • Aged 35 years and above (13 years and above for Persons With Disabilities); and
  • Earn an average gross monthly income of not more than $2,000 for the months worked.

You will need to create your company profile on https://skillsconnect.gov.sg and they will inform you about the type of profile that you have.

For your reference, an SME is one where:

SSG has updated the definition of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to align with that of SPRING Singapore. SMEs are now defined as companies with:
(i)      at least 30% local shareholding; AN
(ii)    Group annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million OR Group employment size of not more than 200 employees.
