Occupational First Aid (Full) Course Overview
Occupational First Aid (includes CPR+AED) aims to equip you with knowledge and skills to provide first aid to adult casualties and to use the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively in the workplace. The course is aligned with the guidelines and methods stipulated by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC).
The course is a requirement for all Appointed First Aiders to fulfil the Workplace Safety and Health (First Aid) Regulations in their workplace.
This course is eligible for 10 SDUs (currently validity: 25 Nov 2024 – 24 May 2025).
If you currently have a valid Occupational First Aid certificate, you can attend the Occupational First Aid (Refresher) course instead.

Certification: Accredited by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC) and approved by Ministry of Manpower (MOM), valid for 2 years from date of completion. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an e-certificate via email.

- Download the corporate registration forms (for private organisations / for government agencies or MOE schools for invoicing through Vendors@Gov) – Private organisations are requested to provide the participants’ full NRIC and DOB for funding application.
- Email it to courses@sera.sg and we will assist you accordingly.
Apply For SSG Funding And Use Your Skillsfuture Credits
There are two funding mechanisms that are available for you to tap on.
A) First, apply for SSG Funding
This is a separate funding mechanism by Skillsfuture Singapore (SSG) that does not touch your Skillsfuture Credits. Singaporeans and Permanent Residents about the age of 21 are eligible for SSG funding of between 50-70%, subject to funding approval by SSG.
SERA will apply for funding for you after we receive your funding application.
- Visit sera.sg/ssgfunding (Password: 2023SERA)
- Wait for an email from SERA informing you of the funding outcome and balance payable. You will receive this email between 2-3 working days from date of application.
Terms and conditions apply for funding. You must successfully complete the course in order to be eligible for funding. In the event you do not pass the course, you will need to make payment of the full course fee.
B) Second, use your Skillsfuture Credits for the balance payable
2-3 working days after you submit your funding application, you will receive an email and invoice from SERA for the balance payable after funding. Singaporeans above the age of 25 can use their Skillsfuture Credits to pay for this invoice.

- Login to your Skillsfuture account at http://www.skillsfuture.gov.sg/
credit using your Singpass - Click “Submit A Claim”
- To select the course that you are applying for, you can search by training provider “Singapore Emergency Responder Academy” and you’ll be able to view our list of courses that are eligible for Skillsfuture Credit
- After you successfully submit the claim, email us the screenshot of the Claim Transaction ID and Amount Claimed. Please note that if you do not do so, your registration will be marked as unpaid.
Note: The claim has to be submitted inclusive of GST before the course commences. Skillsfuture Singapore does not accept claims submitted after the course commences.
Apply For SSG Funding And Receive An Invoice
If your company is doing bulk registrations and sending participants for different course dates,

Request for Group/Corporate Training
SERA can conduct a private course run for your team if you have at least 8 participants. If the total class size exceeds 16, SERA can conduct multiple concurrent classes for your organisation. This can be conducted at your premises or ours.
If you have less than 8 participants, we can open a class on your preferred date (subject to availability), conducted at SERA’s premises, but will keep the class open for public registrations.

More Information
As part of the assessment requirements, participants must do 2 minutes of continuous chest compressions and this can be physically strenuous. Participants experiencing the following medical conditions are advised not to participant.
- Now or has ever had or been bothered with any medical illnesses like back trouble, knee/joint/spinal injuries, heart trouble, high blood pressure, fainting spells, other physical conditions or other medical disabilities or serious illness
- Is currently pregnant
If you proceed with the course, please seek your doctor’s advice for the green light to continue, and produce the doctor’s letter. If you opt out of the CPR+AED assessment during the course, you will not pass the course and instead, receive a Certificate of Attendance.

- *Grant amount indicated here does not include absentee payroll (AP) funding as this is dependent on the trainee’s hourly basic salary (other than for trainees supported by surrogate Employers, where AP is computed on flat rate independent of salary).
- Appointed First Aiders
- Where more than 25 persons are employed in a workplace, there shall be appointed in the workplace as first-aiders who shall be readily available during working hours. Such number of persons as complies with the ratio of one first-aider for every 100 persons employed in the workplace or part thereof (Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations).
- Safety officers
- Laboratory technicians
- Workers who operate with heavy machinery etc
- Able to speak, read and understand English effectively
- No medical heart and lung conditions or any physical disabilities and injuries that will prevent the participant from performing CPR
Course Objectives
At the end of the course the trainees will be able to:
- Identify the underlying causes of different types of injuries
- Administer basic immediate first aid without any medical help
- Perform adult CPR and use the AED
- Learn foreign body airway obstruction (i.e. choking) management for a conscious or unconscious adult
Course Content
The training syllabus and assessment guidelines meet the minimum standard set by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council and course content as stipulated by Ministry of Manpower.

- Management of medical emergencies
- Wounds, bleeding and shock
- Fractures and soft tissues injuries
- Handling and transportation of the injured
- Eye and other injuries
- Burn injuries
- Breathing difficulties
- Unconscious casualty
- First Aid Requirements in Factories and Other Workplace – The Workplace Safety & Health (First Aid) Regulations
- Industrial Toxicology – Chemicals, Safety Data Sheet, Preventive and Precautionary measures with Case Studies
- Safety and Accident Prevention – Workplace Safety & Health Act Safe Work Measures with Case Studies
- CPR & use of AED
Theory Assessment
Participants will have to complete 40 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) test and need to score at least 80% (32/40) to successfully pass the course.
If a participant fails the theory assessment, the participant will be given 1 more attempt at the theory assessment.
Practical Assessment
Participants will need to demonstrate that they are competent in the skills of
- Three bandaging techniques
- Oral questioning
- Perform CPR and use an AED safely
If a participant fails the practical assessment, the participant will be given up to 2 more attempts at the practical assessment.
